Through fire and water : the life of Reb Noson of Breslov Kramer, Chaim; Greenbaum, Avraham, 1949- Jerusalem ; New York : Breslov Research Institute, 1st ed., Jerusalem, New York, Israel, 1992
Did you ever wonder why the followers of Rebbe Nachman of Breslov never chose another Rebbe? How has Breslover Chassidus been able to survive and flourish for over 180 years without a dynasty of Rebbes or central leadership? To find the answer, meet Reb Noson. Reb Noson Sternhartz (1780-1844) was Rebbe Nachman's closest disciple, and he fought unremittingly to transmit the Rebbe's heritage to future generations of Jews. He published all his writings and explored and explained his teachings in thousands of pages of his own original discourses and prayers, bringing Rebbe Nachman's message of faith, hope and joy to everyone. It was Reb Noson who forged and developed the Breslov Chassidic movement founded by the Rebbe in the Ukraine in the 1790 s, turning it into the major force in Judaism that it is today. This thoroughly-researched biography will keep you absorbed for hours while you relive Reb Noson's life with him step by step. As a twenty-year-old rabbinic scholar of outstanding promise and an astute businessman as well, what was it that made him feel his life was empty and futile? What impelled him to rebel against his entire family, sacrificing everything he could have had, in order to attach himself to Rebbe Nachman and drink in his every word? Bereft of his master at the age of only 30, what powered him to singlehandedly print the Rebbe's books and fire a new generation of Chassidim to follow his ways with an honesty and sincerity that made others feel ashamed? What was it that so infuriated Reb Noson's enemies that when insults, abuse, stone-throwing and a gruesome assassination attempt failed to thwart him, they slandered him to the Russian government and tried to have him sent to Siberia? And what gave Reb Noson the strength to hold his peace throughout, relying on nothing but faith and prayer for his salvation? Includes a detailed account of Reb Noson's adventure-filled trip to the Holy Land in 1822, full background information about Jewish and general historical trends, extensive quotations from Reb Noson's hitherto untranslated diaries, letters and other writings, a selection of his sayings and an appendix on the structure and methods of his magnum opus, Likutey Halakhos, and other works. With glossary, biographical sketches and full indices.

Until the Mashiach : Rabbi Nachman's biography : an annotated chronology by Aryeh Kaplan; edited by Dovid Shapiro Breslov Research Institute; Breslov Research Inst, 1st ed., Jerusalem, Israel, Brooklyn, N.Y., U.S.A, Israel, 1985
Nachman of Breslov ( ???? ???????), also known as Reb Nachman of Bratslav, Reb Nachman Breslover ( ?? ???? ??????????), Nachman from Uman (April 4, 1772 - October 16, 1810), was the founder of the Breslov Hasidic movement. Rebbe Nachman, a great-grandson of the Baal Shem Tov, breathed new life into the Hasidic movement by combining the esoteric secrets of Judaism (the Kabbalah) with in-depth Torah scholarship. He attracted thousands of followers during his lifetime and his influence continues until today through many Hasidic movements such as Breslov Hasidism. Rebbe Nachman's religious philosophy revolved around closeness to God and speaking to God in normal conversation "as you would with a best friend." The concept of hitbodedut is central to his thinking.

Anatomy of the Soul compiled and translated by Chaim Kramer; with Avraham Sutton Jerusalem ; New York: Breslov Research Institute, 1st ed., Jerusalem, New York, Israel, 1998
<p>Did you ever wonder what the Bible means when it states "man was formed in a Godly image"? Since God has no form or image, what is this "Godly image"? Where or how does it manifest?</p> <p>Throughout Biblical, Talmudic and Midrashic literature mention is made of various "Godly powers" that the human being possesses. But it is the Kabbalah which explains the creation of the world within the Vacated Space, the formation of the Supernatural Universes, the Divine Persona and the Ten Sefirot. It also explains how mankind, the physical human, corresponds to the entire array of the vast spiritual powers and attributes that God created.</p> <p><i>Anatomy of the Soul</i>, based on the teachings of Rebbe Nachman of Breslov (1772-1810), a leading chassidic master, and his closest disciple, Reb Noson (1780-1844), explores these ideas and the spiritual and mystical powers of man in a practical manner. It provides a study of each aspect of the human body: the Skeletal and Muscular systems, the Circulatory and Respiratory systems, the Reproductive system, etc., showing how they relate to the Ten Sefirot, the five levels of the soul that a physical person can have upon the hidden spiritual universes.</p> <p>Rebbe Nachman makes it abundantly clear: every person — without exception — can immediately begin to affect change in his life according to the effort he puts in. One can ascend the spiritual ladder and internalize ever greater enlightenment.</p>

Crossing the narrow bridge : a practical guide to Rebbe Nachman's teachings Chaim Kramer, Moshe Mykoff, Rebbe Nachman of Breslov Jerusalem ; New York: Breslov Research Institute, 1st ed., Jerusalem, New York, Israel, 1989
<p>"Know! This world is a very narrow bridge. The most important thing is not to be afraid!" (<i>Likutey Moharan II</i>)</p> <p>Rebbe Nachman of Breslov (1772-1810) thus challenges the individual as he faces the vicissitudes of life. Life is indeed a very narrow bridge, replete with snares and ever-present stumbling blocks. Yet the view from this bridge can be breathtaking and inspiring. As we cross the bridge of life, we are enjoined to approach the future with hope and joy, avoiding undo fears and anxiety.</p> <p>Rebbe Nachman enhances this perspective view of life with a wealth of advice and encouragement, in order for us to enjoy our days to the fullest. <i>Crossing the Narrow Bridge</i> is a well-organized, systematic and lucid anthology of Rebbe Nachman's teachings, thoughts and recommendations for making the most of living.</p> <p>This book is a practical guide to living — or perhaps even a survival manual — for the contemporary Jew. Readers are invited to share and savor Rebbe Nachman's exquisite observations from their own perspective on life's narrow bridge.</p>

Rebbe Nachman's Torah : Breslov insights into the weekly Torah reading Chaim Kramer, Rebbe Nachman of Breslov Breslov Research Institute; Judaica Place, Berkowitz edition. First edition, Jerusalem, 2011
BRESLOV INSIGHTS INTO THE WEEKLY TORAH READING Exodus\Leviticus By Chaim Kramer Some view it as a history book, others as a storybook, still others as a book of law. In truth, the Torah is a guidebook for living life the best possible way. But how are we to learn from the Torah's presentation? How can we live like the Patriarchs and Moses? Are we condemned to the family squabbles of Ishmael and Isaac, Jacob and Esau, and Joseph and his brothers? How do we internalize the bondage in Egypt, the Exodus, the Splitting of the Sea, and the travails of the Jewish people in their journey through the desert? What is the Tabernacle? Where is our manna? What of Balaam's curses, and who are the spies among us? And what do all the many Torah laws mean to our 21st-century way of thinking? We find answers in the teachings of Rebbe Nachman of Breslov and his main disciple, Reb Noson. The way they develop their discourses, revealing God's presence in every aspect of life, helps us understand and apply the Torah's messages to our own lives. They also make us feel we can be active participants in Creation. We can be like Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, embarking on a new beginning. We are standing by the Tree of Life and the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, armed with the choice to either succumb to the enticements of the Serpent or draw nourishment from the Tree of Life. What we choose will impact the future of mankind and the world Rebbe Nachman's teachings are filled with new a refreshing ideas for getting most out of life. Blending far-reaching insight with eminently practical advice, the Rebbe turns the time-honored books of Jewish tradition into contemporary manuals for personal success. This first-ever compilation of Breslov thought on the Five Books of Moses - known as the Torah - shows the Rebbe at his best; extracting the hidden message in the familiar verses to reveal an entirely new way of looking at the Torah and at life. His words speak directly to our hearts, imbuing them with clarity and purpose. Come, take the Rebbe's path and hear what the Torah has to say to you. Show More Show Less

<p>"In each generation, we must see ourselves as having personally gone out of Egypt" (<i>Haggadah</i>). This is the Haggadah for the searching, contemporary Jew. Based on the teachings of Rebbe Nachman of Breslov, it makes the reader aware of how much Jewish History is actually taking place at this very moment — in his own self! Feel the Bondage in Egypt. Be conscious of Pharaoh and his advisors. Anticipate the Salvation. And, rejoice, personally, in the Exodus itself.</p> <p>Added to Rebbe Nachman's insights are the Midrashic Story of the Exodus, related Pesach anecdotes from Chassidic lore and a journey through Breslov discourses from Pesach until Shavuot. It is a living Haggadah — bringing home the vibrancy of Judaism and Pesach with its relevance today.</p>
